Rádio Brasil Central was founded by Coimbra Bueno on March 3 , 1950 , [ 1 ] [ 2 ] it emerged as “Rádio Jornal Brasil Central S/A”. Its main objective was to fight for the transfer of the Federal Capital, at the time Rio de Janeiro, to the center of the country. Its slogan was “Radio Brasil Central, Coimbra Bueno Foundation. For the change of the Federal Capital to the Central Plateau”. Jeronymo Coimbra Bueno was an engineer and politician from Goiás committed to the cause of transferring the capital. As an engineer, Coimbra Bueno directed the construction company responsible for the works in Goiânia. During the campaign for change, many politicians and intellectuals from Goiás, such as Prof.Zoroastro Artiaga wrote signed letters and articles to be read on the station's programs.
In 1962 , the still called “Rádio Jornal Brasil Central S/A” was acquired by the State Government, becoming one of the companies of the Consortium of Broadcasting and News Companies of the State of Goiás (CERNE) which also owned the Official Press of Goiás . That year the radio changed its name, becoming only Rádio Brasil Central. Until then, Rádio Brasil Central operated on Short Waves (OC), Tropical Waves (OT) and Medium Waves (OM).
Rádio Brasil Central has a journalism team that is one of the most respected in Goiás, keeping one of the oldest news programs in the state on the air, “Mundo em sua casa”, which brings significant news to the listener every day, for more than 40 years. With a traditional team in the transmission of sporting events, the Escrete de Ouro, which for more than 30 years has followed Brazilian sport in Goiás, Brasil Central transmitted cups – such as the 1990 in Italy and championships in other sports. It was also the first radio station in Goiás to broadcast an event directly from abroad: the 1974 Men's Basketball World Championship , in Mexico City.
